Gramo manages recording rights for broadcasting and public performance of record companies based on labels.
Once a record company has been registered as right holder to a label, the company will automatically receive all remuneration generated for Norwegian airplay on that particular label.
The airplay reports from TV/radio stations to Gramo always contain name of label for each track.
Membership of Gramo is free of charge.
Qualify for membership?
You qualify for membership of Gramo if your company holds rights in the territory of Norway.
This applies if:
Your company owns a label (full label repertoire)
Your company has the rights to collect broadcasting fees for a label (full label repertoire) in the territory of Norway through distribution, licensing or buy up. You must document your mandate by sending us a copy of the label contracts or agreements. Please note that the following information must be included in the contracts or agreements:
Name of label (and sublabels)
Term of the agreement (start date – end date)
Territory of the agreement
Neighbouring rights (broadcasting fees)
Signature from both parties
How to join Gramo:
To apply for membership please follow these steps:
Download and fill out the Discography Form (Excel) for the recordings your company holds rights to in the territory of Norway
Download and fill out the Membership Application Form (pdf)
Attach both forms in an e-mail to email@example.com
Please, do not include re-releases, compilations and so on. Only include original releases.
Before membership is granted conflicts must be resolved:
We will crosscheck the repertoire in our system and check if there are any conflicts
If there are any conflicts we will contact you and try to resolve them
Already a worldwide member?
If your record company is already a worldwide member of one of our international sister organizations with which Gramo has a bilateral agreement for producers, your company will receive your Norwegian remuneration through them.
